BLOG 6 - Your Experiences Learning English
Hello
class. Here is our new entry, on this occasion, you will need to write about
English as part of your academic syllabus. Your comments are of great value to
me and the English team, as we grow and learn from our experiences and the time
we spend and share all across the semester with you.
1. What comments can you make about your experience
learning English at university?
2. What about the use of blogs?
3. What aspects of your English need to
be improved and how do you plan to do this?
4. Outside the English class, how much
are you using English these days? What for?
Requirements
for the entry:
For the present task, you need to write 220
to 230 words. Pay attention to misspellings, grammar errors and
vocabulary. Do not forget to post three (3) comments on your
classmate’s posts and one (1) on mine as well (25 words as a minimum!) Try
to use the English we have learnt in previous sessions. You have 48

Me and the English language
As
we are writing about English this time, I think I have a lot to say... I probably
should start by commenting on experience learning English.
To
me English was that subject I did not enjoy much. Our teachers we kind and nice
but the fact I did not have enough fun lesson to lesson, I thought they were
mean and cruel. Currently, I am still in touch with one of them!
Now,
my experiences teaching at UChile, are quite demanding...many students have not
seen all the opportunities English could bring into their professional careers,
as well as their personal lives.
By
instance, many say today that English is the global and academic language
or sometimes they refer to English as the language of the future...I would love
to see more English language into the faculties and academic contents (I would
love to hear what do you think about this) Similarly, there are some aspects
connected to the political side and the policies implemented regarding English
here in Chile...
As
your daily lives, I always wonder how much time are you exposed to English...How
much input are you getting...I hope you can see how important is English for
both, your academic prospects and your life enrichment.
it's seen like you really like the english language, unlike you I really like my english lesson in school.
ReplyDeletedid you know any other language?
I don't believe that you didn't enjoy the English class at all, but, under these conditions it makes sense, I think the English class should be a fun and a comfortable space for students and the teacher too.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to find utility to a language like English in a country like Chile, most people don’t see the use of it because we all speak Spanish mostly. But as you said, knowing a language like English brings different opportunities, people just don’t see it at first.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like the English but is important speak or understand this language because is the means to communicate whit each other, finally all the language are important.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to see more English practiced in other areas of the university, there are even schools where English is used in everything, but I know very few :(.
ReplyDeleteGreat, you made me remember when in high school my English teacher did an activity with a note on English day, there were people in charge of instructions, presentations and singing, all day ,all the high school speak in English :)
